Edit text, buttons and sections

Preview your changes before you publish

See your page the way visitors will, on a computer, tablet and phone, before any of your changes go live.

Before you publish, take a minute to look at your page the way a customer will. A preview shows your changes without putting them on the live site, so you can catch a typo or a cut-off photo first.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and make your changes.
  2. In the top bar, click Preview Changes. Your site opens with your unpublished changes in it.
  3. Choose which screen to look at: all of them, or one at a time (computer, tablet or phone).
  4. Click around. Read your text out loud, check each button, and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  5. Go back to the editor to fix anything that looks wrong.
  6. When it looks right, publish. See Publish your changes.

What to look for

  • Words: typos, wrong hours, wrong prices.
  • Photos: nobody's head cut off, nothing blurry.
  • Buttons: each one goes where it should.
  • Phone view: text is easy to read and things sit in a sensible order.

Switch screen sizes while editing

You don't have to open a preview to check a screen size. Use the device icons in the top bar to switch the editor between computer, tablet and phone. These aren't three separate sites. Adding or deleting something on one view does it on all of them.

Good to know

  • The check mark in the top bar shows whether your changes have been saved. Saved changes are still not live until you publish.
  • A preview is close to the real thing, not exact. Fonts, window size and browser behavior can look a little different on an actual phone. After you publish, open the page on your own phone for the final check.
