Check how your site looks on a phone
Switch between computer, tablet and phone views in your editor, know what changes on one screen and not another, and do a final check on a real phone.
Customers look at sites on their phones, so it is worth seeing yours that way. Your editor lets you look at your pages in computer, tablet and phone views, so you can catch problems before anyone else does.
Switch views
- Log in to your site editor and open the page.
- In the top bar, click one of the device icons: computer, tablet or phone.
- The page redraws in that size. Scroll down the whole page.
You can edit in any view. A change to content, such as a new widget, new wording or a section you add or delete, shows up in every view at once.
What can differ by screen
A few things can be set for one screen size only:
- Alignment, position, size and spacing of an item.
- Whether an item shows at all. See Hide something on phones or on computers.
If something looks wrong only on the phone, see Make a section look different on phones.
What to look for on a phone
- Text is big enough to read without zooming.
- Buttons are easy to tap, with room around them.
- Photos aren't cut off or squashed.
- Items follow a sensible order from top to bottom.
- Your phone number and address are easy to find.
- Nothing runs off the edge of the screen.
A final check on a real phone
The phone view in your editor is a good guide, not a perfect copy. Fonts, the size of the window and how the browser behaves can all look a little different on a real phone. Don't judge by making your computer's browser window narrow. After you publish, open your site on your own phone and look again.
Tips
- Don't delete something just because it looks wrong on a phone. Deleting removes it everywhere. Hide it on phones instead.
- Check the phone view after every layout change, not only at the end.
