Working with us

Check your site before it goes live

What to look at when we send you the first version of your site, and how to send us all your changes in one email.

When your first version is ready, we email you a link to look at. This is your chance to catch anything wrong before customers see it. Go through the list below, then send us everything in one reply.

Before you start

  • Open the link on your phone as well as a computer. A page can look different on each.
  • Keep your sign, your menu or price list and your hours next to you.

What to check

  1. Name and logo. Is your name spelled right? Is your logo in the header and the footer? Look at the small icon in the browser tab too.
  2. Hours, phone and address. Read each one against your sign. Where there's a call button or a map button, tap it and see that it works.
  3. Words. Read every page. Look at services, prices, names and spelling. Anything you wouldn't say to a customer, mark it.
  4. Photos. Do they show your place and your work? Look for photos that are cut off, blurry or not yours.
  5. Colors and fonts. Do they match your sign and your printed menus or cards? Look at every page, on the phone and the computer.
  6. Links and buttons. Tap every menu item and every button. None should lead nowhere, and every page you expect should be there.
  7. Contact form. Send yourself a test message and check that it arrives in your inbox. See Where your form messages go.
  8. Privacy page and cookie notice. Check that your site has the pages and notices you want. For what your site needs, ask your lawyer. See Add a privacy page to your site and Turn on a cookie notice.
  9. Your old site. If you had a website before, tell us which old pages matter, so visitors who use old links don't hit a dead end.

Send us your changes

Reply once with everything you'd like changed:

  • What to change, in the exact words.
  • Which page it's on.
  • Photos attached, or a shared link. See Send us photos and files.

One reply with everything is easier for both of us than several small ones. See Request a change.

When it goes live

Check again on your live address. Look for the padlock beside your address, and tap the website link on your Google profile if we added your link there. See What the padlock (https) means for your site and Add your site link to your Google profile.

Need a hand?
