Add a button

Put a button on any page, write what it says and choose where it takes people: a page, a phone call, an email, a file and more.

A button tells a visitor what to do next: reach you, get a quote, see the menu, send an email. Here is how to put one on a page.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page.
  2. In the side panel, click Add, then Elements.
  3. Search for Button, then drag it to the spot on the page where you want it.
  4. Click the button. In the small floating menu that appears, choose the option for editing its content.
  5. Type the words you want on the button.
  6. Choose where the button goes (see the list below), then fill in the details it asks for, such as which page.
  7. Click the button again and choose Edit Design if you want to change how it looks. You can pick the primary or the secondary button style your site uses, and change its size, text and spacing.
  8. Preview the page and click the button to make sure it goes where you meant.
  9. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

Where a button can go

  • Existing Page, one of your own pages.
  • Website address, a page on another site.
  • Popup, which opens a popup.
  • Anchor, a set spot on a page. See Link to a spot further down a page.
  • Back to top, which sends a visitor back up to the start of the page.
  • Email Address, which opens their email app.
  • Click To Call, which offers to call a phone number.
  • File for download, such as a PDF menu.

If your site has a store, a blog or memberships, you'll also see Store link, Blog post and Membership plan checkout. They only appear when your site has those.

Tips

  • Start with a verb and keep it short: "Get a quote", "See the menu", "Order online".
  • Any change you make in Edit Design applies to this button only. To return to the style your site uses everywhere, click Reset to theme style.
  • To change a button's look across the whole site, see Change the button style across your site.
  • If you'd rather the button stayed in view as people scroll, see Keep a button on screen while visitors scroll.
