Colors, fonts and layout
Change the button style across your site
Set how your buttons look in one place, the shape, colors, border and hover effect, and every button on your site follows.
Your site has two button styles, primary and secondary. Set them once and every button that uses a style follows it. A button change can reach every page, so we suggest emailing us first.
Don't see this?
It may be turned off for your site. Ask us and we'll take care of it.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Theme.
- Open the buttons section, Site Buttons.
- Pick the style you want to change: primary or secondary.
- Choose a button layout.
- Choose the shadow, corners and border, then the background color, the text and the hover look.
- Do the same for the other style if you like.
- Look at a few pages to see the new buttons in place, then publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Pick which style a button uses
Each button on a page uses either the primary or the secondary style. To switch one, click the button, choose its design settings and pick the style you want. See Add a button.
When one button looks different
If someone changed a single button's own settings, that button keeps its look and ignores the site style. To bring it back in line, open that button's design settings and click Reset to theme style.
Tips
- Keep button words short and clear: "Order online", "Book a table", "Get directions".
- Use strong contrast between the button text and the button color, so the words are easy to read. See Make your site easier for everyone to read.
- On a phone, buttons should be big enough to tap with a thumb. Check the phone view. See Check how your site looks on a phone.
- Match your button colors to your brand colors. See Change your site's colors.
