Phone, address and location

Add a tap-to-call button

Add a button that starts a phone call when a visitor taps it on a phone, and how to keep it on screen.

A tap-to-call button lets a customer on a phone start a call with one tap, which makes it easy for people to reach your business.

What to expect

It works on phones. Most desktop computers and tablets can't handle it, so the button may do nothing there, or something unexpected. That's why it belongs on the phone version of your site. To offer a call link on computers as well, see Link to an email address, phone number or file. Whether it works there depends on the visitor's setup.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page.
  2. Open the widgets list in the side panel and drag the Click To Call widget where you want it.
  3. Click it to open its floating menu, then open its content settings. You can also right-click it and choose Edit Content.
  4. Enter the phone number. For an international number, put a + in front of the country code. There's no standard way to dial an extension automatically.
  5. Type the words for the button, such as "Call now".
  6. Hide the button on computers, so only phone visitors see it. See Hide something on phones or on computers.
  7. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

Use the number from your business details

Instead of typing the number, you can connect the button to the one you've saved. Click the three-dot icon in its floating menu, click Connect to Data, choose Phone Number, then click Connect. After that, change the number in your business details, not on the button. See Update your business details in one place.

Keep it on screen

Click Edit Design in the floating menu and turn on Floating. Choose where it sits. Turn on Show on this page only if you don't want it on every page.

Tips

  • Test it on your own phone after you publish. Tapping should open the dialer with the right number.
  • Check where else your number appears: Update your phone number or address.
  • Keep the button words short. "Call now" or "Tap to call" is clear.
