Show your Facebook posts on your site

Show your Facebook Page's recent posts, events and a message button on a page. It doesn't always show for every visitor, so know the limits.

The Facebook widget puts your Facebook Page's recent activity on your site. Visitors can read your latest posts without leaving, and the widget can offer a way to message you. It depends on Facebook's own rules, so it won't show for everyone.

Before you start

  • You need a Facebook Page. A Facebook Group won't work.
  • The Page can't be restricted. If it needs a login, or has an age or location limit, the widget stays blank. If you're not sure, ask whoever manages the Page to check its settings.
  • You connect your own Page. We never ask for your Facebook password.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page.
  2. Add the Facebook Feed widget. See Add a widget to a page.
  3. Click the widget, then choose its content settings from the small menu that appears.
  4. In the field provided, type your Page's address. The full link works, and so does just the end of it that names your Page.
  5. Switch on any of these you want: Large Header, Cover photo and Friend's faces.
  6. Choose which tabs to show: Timeline, Events and Messages.
  7. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
  8. Open the page on a computer and on a phone, and check what you see.

If it doesn't show

  • On an iPhone in Safari, Safari blocks some Facebook content from other websites. Your editor can't change that.
  • In other browsers, Facebook may only show the feed to visitors who are signed in to Facebook. To check your own page, open a new tab, sign in to Facebook, then refresh your site.
  • On phones in general, Facebook sometimes has trouble showing feeds on mobile sites. That's on Facebook's side.
  • If the widget is blank everywhere, check that the address is for a Page, not a Group, and that the Page isn't restricted.

Because it may not show for every visitor, don't rely on it for important news such as your hours or a closure.
