Pages, menus and popups

Hide or delete a page

Take a page out of your menu, off the live site or off your site for good, and why hiding comes before deleting.

An old offer, a past event or a page you're not sure about: you have three ways to take it away. Start with the gentlest one. Hiding is easy to reverse; treat deleting as permanent.

Pick one

  • Hide it from the menu. The page stays on the live site, but nothing in the menu leads to it. Anyone with the direct link can still open it.
  • Set it as a draft. The page comes off the live site and out of the menu, and stays in your editor so you can bring it back.
  • Delete it. The page is gone. Treat this as permanent.

Hide a page from the menu

  1. Log in to your site editor.
  2. In the side panel, click Pages.
  3. On the page's row, click the three-dot icon.
  4. Choose Show or Hide from navigation and hide the page.
  5. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

Set a page as a draft

  1. In the Pages panel, find the page and click its three-dot icon.
  2. Click Set as a draft. The page leaves the menu.
  3. Publish the site again (the button may read Republish) so the page comes off the live site. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

To bring it back, click the three-dot icon, click Stage draft for publish, then publish again.

Your home page, links to other sites and menu headings can't be drafts. If a page has sub-pages under it, they disappear from the menu too.

Delete a page

  1. In the Pages panel, click the icon next to the page (a three-dot or gear icon).
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Publish.

Good to know

  • Did people use that page? If it was in a Google result, a QR code or a printed flyer, they may land on a "page not found" message after you delete it. To send them to a new page, see Send an old link to a new page.
  • A published page that shows "page not found" is often still a draft. Check for Stage draft for publish.
  • Deleted something by mistake? Tell us right away.
