Change your "page not found" page
Edit the page visitors see when a link is broken or mistyped, so they can find their way back.
If someone types a wrong address, or follows an old link to a page you've removed, they land on your "page not found" page. Until you change it, visitors see a generic one. A short, friendly page with a way back helps them find where to go next.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click More, then click Settings.
- Click 404 Page.
- Click Customize page.
- Edit it like any other page: change the words, add a button, add your menu or a photo.
- Click Preview page to see how it looks.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
This page doesn't appear in your Pages list or the page picker at the top left. When you're done, use that picker at the top left to go back to your home page.
To go back to the plain version at any time, click Revert to original page.
What to put on it
- One plain sentence: the page isn't here.
- A button to your home page.
- A button to the thing most people want: your menu, your services, or your contact page.
- Your phone number or a link to your contact form, in case they're stuck.
Good to know
- The page background can't be changed here. It follows the background you set for all pages in your site-wide settings.
- Sites in more than one language share one "page not found" page, edited in the main language.
- If you see visitors landing here a lot, a link on your site may be broken. See Find and fix broken links, or send an old address to a live page with Send an old link to a new page.
