Pages, menus and popups
Change the links in your menu
Choose which pages show in your menu, in what order, or build a menu by hand with only the links you want.
The menu at the top of your site works in one of two ways. Most menus follow your list of pages and update themselves. Some are built by hand, with only the links someone picked. Knowing which one you have makes every change easier.
If your menu follows your pages
This is the usual setup. Make your changes in the Pages panel:
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Pages.
- Drag pages to reorder them, or rename a page. See Rename or reorder your pages.
- To keep a page out of the menu, open that page's settings in the Pages panel and choose the option to hide it from the navigation menu.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Build your own list instead
Handy when you want just a few links, such as Menu, Book and Call.
- Click the menu in your header to open its floating menu, then open its content settings. You can also right-click the menu and choose Edit Content.
- Choose Custom links.
- Add items and folders. Link each one to a page on your site, a spot on a page, or another website.
- Publish.
Heads up: once you choose Custom links, the menu no longer follows your pages. New, renamed or moved pages won't change it, so you'll keep it up to date here. Choose Site pages to go back to the automatic menu.
My menu doesn't match my pages
Your menu is probably on Custom links. Open the menu's content settings and check.
Good to know
- A menu can go three levels deep. See Group pages under one menu item.
- Links that end in a question mark and extra settings aren't supported in menus.
- Fewer links read better, especially on a phone. See Change the menu on phones.
- Menu missing altogether? Tell us. We can put it back.
