Pages, menus and popups
Add a link to another site in your menu
Put a menu item that opens another website, such as your ordering page or delivery listing, and which way keeps your menu automatic.
Maybe your online ordering lives on another website, or you want a menu item for a delivery listing or a booking tool. There are two ways to add one. The first keeps your menu updating itself.
Way 1: add it as a page that links out
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Pages.
- Click Add Page, then choose Page URL.
- Follow the prompts.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
- Check your live menu. If the item isn't there, or the prompts weren't clear, send us the wording and the address and we'll set it up.
Way 2: use a hand-made menu
- Click the menu in your header to open its floating menu, then open its content settings. You can also right-click the menu and choose Edit Content.
- Choose Custom links.
- Add an item and link it to the other website.
- Publish.
Heads up: Custom links cuts the menu loose from your Pages panel. From then on, new, renamed and moved pages won't change the menu. You'll update it here, by hand. If you only have a couple of outside links, Way 1 is usually less work.
Tips
- Copy the other site's address from your browser and paste it, so there are no typing slips.
- Menu links don't support the extra settings some addresses carry after a question mark. If your link needs them, ask us.
- Only link to sites you trust. A visitor who leaves through your menu may not come back, so keep outside links to the ones that help them do business with you.
- Test the link on your live site, and on a phone, after you publish.
