Connect a way to take card payments

Connect your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account so customers can pay by card at checkout and the money goes straight to you.

  • Add-on: ask us about adding it

Online stores are an add-on. If your site doesn't have one yet, ask us about adding it; we quote it in writing first.

To take cards online, your store needs a payment account of your own. Customers pay, and the money goes straight to your account. Your store doesn't hold it.

Before you start

  • Have an account with Stripe, PayPal or Square, or be ready to create one while you connect. Each charges its own fees, so look at their pricing first.
  • You sign in to your own account yourself, on the provider's screen. We never ask for your password and never see it.
  • Ask the provider how and when payouts reach your bank account.

Connect your account

  1. Log in to your site editor.
  2. In the side panel, click Store, then Business Settings.
  3. Click Payments.
  4. Click Connect Account next to Stripe, PayPal or Square. For PayPal, pick the option you want.
  5. Follow the prompts to sign in and connect.
  6. Look for a green connected badge on the Payment Gateways screen.

Things to know about each one

Stripe. Extra ways to pay (Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm, Cash App Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay) are switched on in your Stripe account, not in the store. A method only shows at checkout once it's switched on there. Stripe also sets a minimum total for a charge. If an order is below it, the customer sees an error, which matters for very small orders. Apple Pay and Google Pay don't work through Stripe if you also use automatic sales tax or automatic shipping rates. See Add Apple Pay.

PayPal. See Add PayPal at checkout. PayPal doesn't show while your site is in preview, so test it on the live site.

Square. Connecting Square disconnects Stripe and any payment methods set up through Stripe. If you have more than one Square location, click Change in the location banner to pick the right one. To disconnect, go back to Payments and click Disconnect Account.

Check that it works

Before you tell customers, buy a low-priced item yourself, then look for the order under Store, Sales, Orders. See Find and manage your orders.

Need a hand?

If your site doesn't have this yet, ask us about adding it. We quote it in writing first, and nothing is billed unless you approve. Email hello@zossoz.com.

Connecting needs you to sign in to your own account, so we can't do that step for you. If you get stuck, email hello@zossoz.com with your business name and what the screen says, and we'll tell you the next step. We reply within one business day. See Request a change.
