Online store
Accept cards with Authorize.Net
Connect your own Authorize.Net merchant account so your store can take Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards.
- Add-on: ask us about adding it
Online stores are an add-on. If your site doesn't have one yet, ask us about adding it; we quote it in writing first.
If you already have an Authorize.Net merchant account, you can connect it so customers can pay by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover. The merchant account is yours to open with Authorize.Net.
Before you start
- Make sure your Authorize.Net account is active and you can sign in.
- You'll need two values from it: your API login ID and your Transaction Key. They work like a password to your payment account, so type them in yourself. Never email or text them to us or anyone else.
- Apple Pay doesn't work with Authorize.Net.
Find your login ID and key
- Sign in to your Authorize.Net account.
- Click the Account tab.
- Choose Account and API Settings.
- Open API Credentials and Keys. That screen shows both values.
Authorize.Net's own help pages show these steps in more detail.
Connect it to your store
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Store, then Business Settings.
- Click Payments.
- Click Connect next to Authorize.net.
- Enter your API login ID and Transaction Key.
- Click Connect Authorize.net.
Once the connection works, Authorize.net shows a green connected badge on the payment gateways screen.
Disconnect it
- Go to Store, Business Settings, Payments.
- Open the three dot menu beside Authorize.net and choose Disconnect Authorize.net.
- Click Disconnect Authorize.net in the box that appears to confirm.
A green banner in the top right of the screen confirms it.
If it won't connect
- Copy each value exactly, with no extra spaces at the start or end.
- Check that your Authorize.Net account is active.
- Still stuck? Email us with your business name and the message you see. Don't include the values themselves.
