Add Apple Pay
Let customers pay with a tap using Apple Pay by connecting Stripe and switching Apple Pay on in your own Stripe account.
- Add-on: ask us about adding it
Online stores are an add-on. If your site doesn't have one yet, ask us about adding it; we quote it in writing first.
Apple Pay lets customers check out with one tap on a device that supports it. In your store it runs through Stripe, so you need a Stripe account of your own.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Store, then Business Settings.
- Click Payments.
- Next to Stripe, click Connect Account. Skip this step if you already see the green connected badge.
- Follow the prompts to sign in to your Stripe account, or create one. You sign in yourself, and we never see your password.
- In your Stripe account, open Settings, then Payment Methods, find Apple Pay and turn it on. If it isn't on, Stripe's help pages explain how to activate it.
- If Stripe asks for your website, enter your site address. You don't need to do any extra verification.
- Open your checkout on a device that supports Apple Pay and look for the Apple Pay button.
What customers need
Apple Pay only appears for customers whose device supports it and who have an active Wallet. It also has to be set up on their own device.
Fees
Apple Pay doesn't add a separate charge. You pay Stripe's normal processing fee. Check Stripe's pricing for details.
If the button doesn't show
- Stripe is connected, with a green badge under Payments.
- Your Stripe account is live, meaning it can take real payments. In your store's Payments screen, look at the Stripe section for warnings about accepting live payments.
- Your site shows the padlock in the address bar. See What the padlock means.
- Your checkout has no custom questions. Apple Pay doesn't work when the checkout form has custom fields. See Change your checkout form.
- You aren't using automatic sales tax or automatic shipping rates. Apple Pay and Google Pay don't work through Stripe alongside those.
