Pages, menus and popups
Open a popup from a button or link
Link a button, a photo or a few words of text to a popup so it opens when someone clicks.
Once you've made a popup, you decide what opens it. The usual answer is a button, but a gallery photo or a few words of text can open one too.
Before you start
Make the popup first: Add a popup.
Link a button or gallery photo to a popup
- Log in to your site editor and open the page with the button or photo.
- Open its content settings: right-click it and choose Edit content.
- In the link options, click Popup.
- Choose your popup from the drop-down list.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Link words in a text block to a popup
- Click into the text and select the words.
- Pick the link icon from the text menu.
- Click Popup, then choose your popup from the drop-down list.
- Publish.
Try it
Open your live page in another browser, or a private window. Click the button or text, and the popup should open over the page. Close it with the X, or with a "close" link if you added one.
Good to know
- An image in a photo gallery can open a popup when clicked. That uses the same link settings.
- A popup that appears by itself, without a click, needs a personalization rule. That's an advanced tool, so ask us. Tell us when it should appear.
- Don't see the popup in your list? Check the Popups tab in the Pages panel to confirm it exists and has a name.
