Change the menu on phones
Change the three-line menu icon, its links and its look on phones and tablets.
On phones and tablets your menu folds into a small icon, usually three lines, that opens the full list when tapped. You can change that icon, the links inside it and how it looks.
Before you start
Switch the editor to the phone view, so you edit what phone visitors see. Use the screen size buttons in the top toolbar. See Check how your site looks on a phone.
Change the icon
- Log in to your site editor and switch to the phone view.
- Click the menu icon in your header.
- In the floating menu, click Manage Icon.
- Click Choose Icon, then pick one from the list. Or click + Upload to use your own.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Change the links inside the menu
- Click the menu icon, then choose Open Menu from the floating menu.
- Click the links in the opened menu.
- In the floating menu, click Manage Links. For how menu links work, see Change the links in your menu.
- Choose Close Menu when you're done.
Change how it looks
With the menu icon selected, click Edit Design. There you can change how the icon is sized, positioned and aligned, along with its spacing, animation and overall style. The X that closes the menu can be styled too.
Good to know
- You can have more than one menu icon on a page, but they all open the same menu. Keep at least one, or phone visitors have no way to open it.
- Want the three-line style on computers too? That changes your header layout and can reset some customizations. Ask us before you try it.
