Hide something on phones or on computers

Show a button only to phone visitors, or a form only on computers. Hiding keeps the item on your page; it just doesn't show on the screens you pick.

Some things belong on one kind of screen only. A tap-to-call button is handy on a phone and pointless on a computer. A long contact form fits a computer screen better than a phone. You can hide an item on the screens you choose without deleting it.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page.
  2. Click the item you want to hide. If you hide a column or section, everything inside it is hidden too.
  3. In the small menu, click the three dots icon.
  4. Click Hide from, then pick one or more screens: computer, tablet or phone.
  5. Check each view using the device icons at the top of the editor.
  6. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

You can also right-click the item and click Hide from, or open Layers in the side panel and click Hide on this breakpoint next to the item.

If you hide an item on all screens, or on the one you're editing, it disappears from the page and its small menu goes with it. To bring it back, see Find and unhide hidden items.

Good to know

  • Hiding is not deleting. The item stays on the page, ready to show again.
  • Deleting is different. Delete an item while viewing the phone and it's gone from every screen. When you only mean "not on phones", use hide.
  • Switching between device views doesn't create separate sites. Adding a widget, changing text or removing a section changes every view. Only hiding, size, position, spacing and alignment can differ by screen.

Ideas

  • Show a tap-to-call button to phone visitors only.
  • Show a long contact form on computers, and a shorter one on phones.
  • Hide a wide decorative photo on phones, where it would be squeezed too small.
