Blog and posts
Show your latest posts on a page
Put a list of your posts on any page, such as your homepage, and choose what each one shows and how many appear.
The posts widget shows your posts in the layout you choose. Your main blog page already has one. You can add another to your homepage or anywhere else, to show your latest posts where visitors are already looking.
Before you start
Your site needs a blog. If you don't see the posts widget when you look for it, ask us to add a blog.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor and open the page.
- Add the All Posts or Recent Posts widget. They're listed separately, but once they're on a page they behave as the same widget. See Add a widget to a page.
- Click the widget, then choose its content settings from the small menu that appears.
- Choose what each post shows:
- Filter by tag, if your posts have tags. You can pick more than one.
- Read more text and Show more button: write your own label for each, or hide it with the eye icon.
- Show blog name, Show author and date and Show thumbnail images.
- Single line title.
- Click the widget again and choose its design settings:
- Layout and Visible posts, to say how many show.
- Posts per row. This only affects computers and tablets.
- Post description lines, which sets how many lines of each post's start show.
- Padding between posts, for layouts that show several posts.
- Navigate by: View more button, Pagination or None, for when you have more posts than fit.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
- Check the page on a phone.
If your blog page went missing
Like any ordinary page, your main blog page can be deleted. If that happened, add a new page, put an All Posts widget on it and set it up the way you like. That brings back your list of posts.
Tips
- Show only a few posts on your homepage and link to the full list.
- Make sure each post has a thumbnail and a good title, since that's what the list can show. See Write and publish a blog post.
- A search box above the list helps on a blog with many posts. See Add a blog search box.
