Add share buttons
Let visitors share your page on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or by email, with buttons you can trim down to the ones you want.
Share buttons let a visitor pass your page on to their own friends and followers. They share through their own accounts, so the buttons don't post to yours. For buttons that open your accounts, see Add social media icons.
What the buttons cover
Facebook, X (also known as Twitter), LinkedIn, WhatsApp and email.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor and open the page. A page people might pass around, such as a menu, a special offer or a blog post, is a good place for it.
- Add the Share widget to the page. See Add a widget to a page.
- Click the widget, then choose its content settings from the small menu that appears.
- To put a title above the buttons, click the unhide icon and type the title. For example, "Share this menu".
- Switch off any button you don't want, using the switch beside it.
- Click the widget again and choose its design settings. Pick a layout, then adjust icon colors, sizes and background. You can also choose what happens when a visitor hovers on a computer, and the title's font and style.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
- After publishing, try one of the buttons on your live page.
What gets shared
The picture that appears when someone shares comes from your site's settings, not from the buttons. Set it up first:
- See Set the picture that shows when your site is shared.
- If a shared link shows an old picture, see Fix an old picture showing when you share a link.
Tips
- Keep the buttons to the ones your customers use, and switch off the rest.
- Put the widget where someone has just finished reading, such as the end of a menu or an offer.
