Change your site's fonts and text sizes
Set the font, size and style for your paragraphs and headings once, and it updates across your whole site. Ask us first, since it touches every page.
Your fonts and text sizes are set once for the whole site. Change them there and every page follows. That's quick, but it also means one change affects every page, so we suggest emailing us first. We can talk it through with you before it goes everywhere.
Don't see this?
It may be turned off for your site. Ask us and we'll take care of it.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Theme.
- Click the arrow next to Text.
- Click the kind of text you want to change:
- DFLT for general text, such as the words in your menu.
- PAR for paragraph text.
- H1 to H6 for headings, from the biggest title down.
- Open the Font list and choose a font. The list shows what each one looks like.
- Set the Font size. Computers and tablets share one size, and phones have their own.
- Adjust the other settings if you need to: color, weight, line height, letter spacing and all caps.
- Check the pages, then publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
While this panel is open, the page appears smaller so you can see all of it. Choose 100% from the top bar's drop-down to go back to full size.
Good to know
- Text you styled by hand on a page keeps its own look. If one heading doesn't change with the rest, that's usually why. Tell us the page and we'll fix it.
- On tablets and phones, text inside many widgets shrinks a little on its own. The editor won't shrink it below 16 px.
- The Scale text setting makes text resize with the space it sits in. It helps keep a heading from breaking onto a second line.
Tips
- Two fonts are plenty: one for headings and one for everything else.
- Choose a font that's easy to read at small sizes. Fancy fonts are best kept for a big title.
- Look at the phone view after any change. See Check how your site looks on a phone.
- To change one heading only, see Change a heading's size, font or color.
