Show a Google Calendar on your site

Show a public Google Calendar of your events or classes on a page, and update it from Google rather than from your site.

If you already keep your events or class times in Google Calendar, you can show them on your site. When you change an event in Google, the site follows.

Before you start

  • The calendar must be public. Anyone who opens your site can see everything on it. Use a separate calendar made just for the site, not your personal one.
  • In Google Calendar's settings for that calendar, choose to make it available to the public. Google's help pages explain how.
  • Add titles, descriptions, dates and times to your events. Those are the details the site shows.
  • To put the calendar on a page, add the Google Calendar widget, the same way you add any widget (see Add a widget to a page), or email us the page and where it should go, and we'll add it.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page with the calendar.
  2. Click it and open its content settings from the toolbar.
  3. Click Sign in with Google, and choose your own account. We never ask for your password.
  4. Choose the public calendar to show, and the day of the week it starts on.
  5. Optional: turn on Use 24-hour clock if you want times such as 18:00 instead of 6 pm.
  6. Open the design settings. Under Calendar, you can restyle the direction, today, events, all days, the days of the week and the header. Under Event Popup, change the box that opens when someone clicks an event. On phones, events show as a dot.
  7. Preview the page.
  8. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

Update your events

Do it in Google Calendar, not in your site editor. Add or change an event there and the page follows.

Good to know

  • A calendar you created after signing in may not show in the list. Disconnect, then sign in again.
  • Events that last several days, and all-day events, don't show.
  • Only the title, description, and date and time show. An event's location and attached files don't.
  • The month and day names stay in your site's main language. Event details show in the language set in Google Calendar.
  • A calendar that's private won't appear. Make it public first.
