Online store
Translate your store
Translate your products, categories and options into the languages on your site, by hand or from a spreadsheet.
- Add-on: ask us about adding it
When your site has more than one language, your store can follow. The storefront, cart, checkout and emails to customers all get translated.
Online stores are an add-on, and so are extra languages. If your site doesn't have these yet, ask us about adding them; we quote it in writing first.
Don't see this?
It may be turned off for your site. Ask us and we'll take care of it.
Before you start
- Add the language to your site first. See Add another language to your site.
- Prices and currency don't change by language. Your store can't show different prices or a second currency.
- You can't change your site's main language once a store has been added.
Translate by hand
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Store, then Business Settings.
- Click Store Languages.
- Your main language is on the left and the translation is on the right. To see another language you've turned on, open the menu that names the translation language and pick it.
- Use the menu at the top left to move between products, categories and options.
- Click an item and type your translation. It saves on its own.
- To check how a product or category looks, click the Open in Editor icon. To change it in your main language, click the Edit in Catalog icon.
With AI translations on for your site, each new product, category or option gets translated without any work from you. When you change one that is already translated, come back to this page and translate it again, by hand or with AI translations.
Translate from a spreadsheet
A spreadsheet helps when you have many items, or when a translator doesn't have a login.
- On the Store Languages page, click Import CSV.
- Click Download Catalog CSV. The file shows how to lay out your translations.
- Add your translations. Empty cells replace existing translations, so check the file before you upload. You can't add new products or categories here.
- Drag your file into Upload your CSV, or click to choose it. To swap the file, point at it and use the trash can icon.
- Click Import Data, then Done.
Imported translations show up on the Store Languages page, and the live site displays them too.
Tips
- Product IDs, currency and price are left as they are in every language.
- Translations save as you type, so there is no save button to look for on this page.
