Photos, video and files
Use the editor's stock photos
Where to find the free photos, icons and videos in your site editor, and what you can and can't do with each.
Your site editor comes with free photos, icons and videos. They are handy when you don't have a photo of your own yet, but each one comes with rules.
Where to find them
- Log in to your site editor.
- In the side panel, click Add, then Media, then the Stock Media tab. Or open a photo picker and click Free Images (there are also Free Icons and Free Videos).
- Search, click what you like and drag it onto the page.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Check where it came from
Select a photo in the media manager or in a photo picker and look on the right side. It names the source. The rules depend on that source, and some items show no source at all.
| Source shown | On another site | Flyers, menus, social posts | Edit it | Credit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pexels | Yes | Yes, following Pexels' terms | Yes, see their terms | Not required, appreciated |
| Giphy | Yes | Yes, following Giphy's terms | No | Not needed |
| Shutterstock (purchased) | No, one site only | No | No | Not needed |
| Noun Project (icons) | Yes | Yes | Only with a purchase from them | Not required, appreciated |
| No source shown | Only on sites built in your site editor | No | Yes | Not needed |
Every source lets you use the same item more than once on your own site.
Good to know
- Shutterstock images are bought, not free, and a purchase can't be refunded. Ask us before you buy one. We quote it in writing first.
- This is a plain summary, and the terms can change. The full terms are on each library's own website. If you plan to use a photo in print or an ad, check the terms or ask a lawyer.
- Stock photos are free for anyone, so another business may use the same one. For your team, your shop or your food, use your own photos. See Take good photos with your phone.
- A stock photo of a real person is still a photo of a stranger. Don't use it to suggest that person works for you or recommends you.
