Crop or rotate a photo
Trim a photo to the shape you want, or turn it the right way up, without leaving your site editor.
Cropping trims away the edges of a photo, so the part that matters fills the spot. Rotating turns it the right way up. Both happen right on the page.
Before you start
The photo has to be on a page first. The editing tools open from the page, not from your media library. If it isn't there yet, see Add or replace a photo.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor and open the page with the photo.
- Click the photo and open its settings from the small menu that appears. The same works for a photo inside a section background or a tab.
- Find the photo's small thumbnail. Click the pencil icon on it. The image editor opens.
- Click Crop. Crop by hand, or pick one of the preset shapes.
- To turn the photo, look for the rotate control among the same transform tools.
- If you don't like a change, use the undo arrow at the top. The redo arrow brings it back.
- Click Save.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Good to know
- Your original is safe. Saving makes a copy. It keeps the file's name and adds a short mix of letters and numbers at the end, like patio-8k2m4x.jpg. You will find the copy under Site Images in your media library.
- Click Close instead of Save and your changes are lost.
- You can crop, but you can't make the file bigger or smaller here. To choose a good size before you upload, see Pick the right photo size and file type.
- The zoom control at the top only changes how you view the photo while you work. It doesn't change the photo.
- If the photo is cut off in a way you didn't choose, see Fix a photo that looks cut off or blurry.
