Members, lists and extras

Sell memberships

Create free or paid membership plans, choose which pages each one opens, add a join button and connect your own Stripe account to take payment.

  • Add-on: ask us about adding it

A plan decides which members-only pages someone can open, and whether it's free or paid. Member logins are an add-on. If your site doesn't have them yet, ask us about adding them; we quote it in writing first. Set up your locked pages first: see Set up members-only pages.

Don't see this?

It may be turned off for your site. Ask us and we'll take care of it.

Create a plan

  1. Log in to your site editor. In the side panel, click More, then Membership.
  2. Click Membership Plans, then + New plan.
  3. Under Pricing, choose Free or Paid.
  4. For a paid plan, choose how often it bills (weekly, monthly or yearly) and type the Price. Paid plans are set to renew automatically by default.
  5. Under Assign pages, pick the pages only this plan's members can open. A plan with no pages opens nothing.
  6. Click Save.

Let people join

Add a button for the plan. Skip this if you'll only add members yourself.

  1. Open the page where the button should go.
  2. In the side panel, click Add, then Elements, and search for the Button widget. Drag it onto the page.
  3. Click it, type the button text, and in the link options choose Membership plan checkout.
  4. Choose the plan from the drop-down.
  5. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

Connect payments (paid plans only)

Paid plans take payment through Stripe, and Stripe is the only choice. You connect your own account. We never ask for your password.

  1. In Membership Plans, click connect a payment gateway at the top.
  2. Next to Stripe, click Connect, then follow the steps to log in and set it up.

If you disconnect Stripe later, every active membership ends.

Change or remove a plan

  • Click the three dots beside the plan, then Edit membership plan to change pages or add members.
  • A new price applies only to people who join afterward.
  • A free plan that already has members can't be turned into a paid one.
  • You can add existing members to a free plan yourself. Paid plans can't have members added this way.
  • Deleting a plan ends its members' memberships, and they're emailed.

Good to know

  • Test plans on your live site, not in the editor's preview.
  • If someone cancels, access ends when the period they paid for ends.
  • A coupon lasts for the whole time someone is a member. It can't be one-time.
  • Members on paid plans get a page where they can see invoices, update their card and billing address, or cancel. It needs a login button on your live site.
  • Whether to charge sales tax on memberships is a question for your accountant. We can't promise tax is added at checkout.

Need a hand?

If your site doesn't have this yet, ask us about adding it. We quote it in writing first, and nothing is billed unless you approve. Email hello@zossoz.com. For a plan, send us its name, whether it's free or paid, how often it bills, its price and the pages it opens.
