Get ready for hurricane season

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. A closure banner takes minutes if the words are ready. These few steps make the next storm easier.

Before June 1

1. Write a standing message. Send us a short message for closures. For example: "We are closed because of the storm. We will post our reopening date here, and you can reach us at [your email or phone]." We'll keep it on file.
2. Decide who sends updates. One person at your business sends dates and messages to us, so nothing gets crossed.
3. Check your contact details. Make sure the email on file for your form messages is one you can open from your phone without power at the office.
4. Save our email address in your phone: hello@zossoz.com.

We send a reminder in late May too.

When a storm is coming

1. Decide whether you'll close, and for how long, if you know.
2. Email us the dates and the words you want, with "Urgent" in the subject.
3. We'll put a banner on the site as quickly as we can, using your words and dates, and write back when it's live.
4. Update your Google profile yourself. For a closure of up to 6 days, add special hours. For 7 days or more, or an unknown time, Google has a Temporarily closed setting. Both are under Edit profile.

A storm can knock out power and internet for us too. If we're slow to answer, we'll reply as soon as we're back online.

After the storm

Tell us when you reopen, and your new hours if they changed. We take the banner down and update the site. Then test your contact form from a phone.

What we won't do

We only post closure messages that come from you. We don't guess when you'll reopen.

Good to know

• An urgent closure notice is never turned away because your changes for the month are used up.
• A short, calm message beats a long one.
• Keep your own copy of your menu, prices and photos on your phone or in a cloud folder.
