Hours, holidays and closures

Add holiday dates to the hours block

Add one-off days such as holidays to the hours block, and know that they show on your site only about two weeks before the date.

The hours block lets you add special days: a holiday with shorter hours, or a day you're closed. Each one is an exception to your usual hours. If your hours block isn't set up yet, start with Set your hours in the hours block.

Steps

  1. Log in to your site editor and open the page with your hours block.
  2. Click the block. In the small toolbar that appears, open its content settings.
  3. Click Set Special Days and Holidays. This is where exceptions to your normal hours go. If you're not sure how to fill it in, email us the dates and the hours for each and we'll add them.
  4. Preview the page and check the wording.
  5. Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.

When it shows

A special day doesn't appear in the block the moment you add it. It shows only when the date is about two weeks away. For example, a day set for December 25 appears around December 11. Until then, customers see your normal hours.

If you need to warn customers sooner, add a banner as well. See Put up a closure banner. Or put a line in the page text.

Tips

  • Set special days well ahead of time, as soon as you know them. The block shows them for you when the date gets close.
  • Hours on your Google profile are separate. Update them too. See Add holiday hours.
  • For a long closure, such as a storm or renovation, a banner is clearer than a special day.

Need a hand?
