Show form questions only when they're needed
Make a question appear, disappear or become required depending on what someone answered earlier on the form.
Rules let you keep a form short and still ask follow-up questions, but only of the people they apply to. A rule reads like a sentence: if someone picks this answer, then show that question.

It may be turned off for your site. Ask us and we'll take care of it.
Before you start
You need a form made with the Advanced Forms widget already on the page, with both the question that triggers the rule and the question it changes. See Build a form with several steps.
Steps
- Log in to your site editor and open the page with the form.
- Click the form to open its floating menu, then click Settings.
- Click the Logic tab, then + Add Rule.
- Name the rule so you'll remember it. Only you see the name.
- Under IF, choose the question to watch. Then choose how to compare it, and type the answer you're waiting for. To test for a match, use is equal to or is not equal to. To test for a blank answer, use is empty or is not empty. To test for particular words, use starts with, ends with, contains or does not contain.
- Under THEN, choose what should happen: show, hide, make optional or make required. Then choose which question it applies to.
- Click Save.
- Preview the page and try every answer to make sure the right questions appear.
- Publish. If you don't see a Publish button, tell us and we'll publish it for you.
Examples
- A catering form asks "Type of event". If the answer is "Wedding", show "Number of guests" and "Venue".
- A repair form asks "How urgent is it?". If the answer is "Today", make "Best phone number" required.
- A quote form asks "Do you have photos?". If the answer is "Yes", show the file upload.
Watch out
- Don't delete a question that a rule depends on. The form will misbehave, and the rule shows a Logic issue warning. Change or remove the rule first.
- A question or step that has a rule can't be copied.
